Meals to Make in College Dorms

Hi everyone! College move in is approaching quickly and I wanted to share some meal ideas that can be made in a dorm room; some ideas may need use of a residence hall kitchen.

These meals can be made using my healthy grocery list for college students.


  • Whole grain cereal with milk
    • you can add fruit and nut butter to create a full meal
  • Overnight oats
  • Sprouted grain bread/english muffins with peanut butter and fruit on the side
  • Avocado toast
  • Buckwheat/whole wheat waffles
    • bring a waffle maker with you can you can make waffles in your dorm or residence hall kitchen
  • Fruit smoothie
    • frozen fruit, greek yogurt, and milk
  • Egg white and veggie omelette with toast (would need use of a residence hall kitchen)



  • Wrap or sandwich
    • whole grain wrap/bread with deli meat, veggies, and hummus (as the dressing)
  • Peanut butter banana wrap with greek yogurt on the side
  • English muffin pizzas with veggies
  • Rotisserie chicken with brown rice and veggies
  • Sweet potato with veggies
  • Nut butter sandwich with greek yogurt and fruit
  • English muffins with hummus and veggies

Dorm Room Tour/Move in Day


Hi everyone! I already posted pictures of my single dorm room from last school year but for first semester I was in a double. I decided to post pictures of my first dorm room to give you ideas on how to decorate/set up your dorm room.
I moved in to my dorm room during the middle of August last year.  I had to move in about 2 weeks early because of cross country practice. Move in day was a little stressful. It was nice that there wasn’t too many people moving in because it was only the athletes move in day. However, my family and I had only around 2 hours to get everything into my dorm room and set up before I had to meet the team for lunch in the dining hall.

Choosing Your Major-Career Shadowing

Hi everyone! Sorry I have missed a few posts; I was busy preparing for my race, job shadowing, and just relaxing!  I need a certain number of observation hours of physical therapists in order to get into physical therapy school.  While I just finished my freshmen year of college, I decided to start early and have already gotten some of my hours done.  This has brought me to the topic of today’s post which is career shadowing.  Career shadowing/observation is a great tool for high school and college students to use to help determine a major and a future career.

Living in a Single Dorm Room

I am finally done with all of my exams and it’s summer break now!! I was able to get a single dorm room for this semester and I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences about living in a single dorm room as a freshmen.

During winter break I was excited to receive an email that confirmed my single dorm room!  I was so excited that I started planning out how I was going to arrange my room and how I was going to decorate it.

The first day back for the spring semester I walked into my new dorm room and it just seemed very small.  The bed took up most of the space on the right side of the room and there didn’t seem to be enough room for everything that I brought back. However, once my family and I turned the bed so the long way was against the window (like it is in the picture below), the room was completely opened up and felt bigger!

Day in Life of Half Marathoner in College

I have been so busy studying for my exams that I did not have time to put up my blog posts for this week, sorry about that! I only have my exercise physiology exam and lab report left though and then I will be done with my freshmen year of college!

I have been busy training for my next half marathon (Cellcom in Green Bay, WI) throughout this semester. Here is a look into a typical Thursday of my spring semester while I am busy with class and training.

How I Eat Healthy in College

I’m a freshman in college and I don’t have a meal plan.  My mom and I meal prep on the weekends and pack up my food and load it up in my mini-fridge every Monday.

This works well for me because my college is close to home and I go home on the weekends. I have a larger sized mini-fridge that has a freezer that fits all of my food.
